International Literary Festival, to the sea-girt shores of Cyprus

The International Literary Festival, to the sea-girt shores of Cyprus, was launched in 2013 and has been taking place, without interruption every other year. It is four days long, from Wednesday to Saturday, with both days included.

It is a well-known fact, that renowned as well as emerging literary voices and their interactive participation give significant value to an international literary festival. Their participation brings together their writing-reading with the audience-listener, in an atmosphere of communication (networking meetings that result in the tightening of relations between authors and the public), understanding (translations of poems and texts) and contemporary presentations (performance, videos).

The author-reader and audience-listener create a new platform-dialogue, on which they converge in search of new ideas and new approaches, that help better understand the contemporary literary trends. The Festival provides the platform for contemporary-modern writing-performing to be made public and reach more audiences, while at the same time never forgetting the classical.

One of its key objectives is the presentation of specialised events dedicated to specific literary themes (countries or writers / poets).

An overall look of the festival is:

  • 30 and more poets and writers, from Cyprus and abroad
  • Readings, Discussions, Interviews and Presentations, Meet the Writers Sessions
  • One or more Dedications
  • Meeting with students at universities and secondary schools
  • In Nicosia, Lemithou and Galata

All events are open and free to the public and are widely promoted in the local (print, tv and radio), the internet (news and culture websites and blogs) and social media (Facebook, twitter, etc).
